During a visit at a specialty tea house, we were able to attend a Chinese ‘Gong Fu Cha’ tea ceremony. It was surprising to see that it was not a strict and intimidating ritual, but rather a joyful and welcoming everyday gesture. Our short 3D animation bears the title “Welcome, welcome, welcome” as a tribute to eastern hospitality. Our aim was to create a rustic, cosy, but also slightly mysterious situation in a down-to-earth residential building, played with lights and bokeh and experimented with the ritual’s merry tea splashing with liquid simulations.
